FWIW, I have noticed that same message with some of my drawings, although not near that large of file. I've discovered that clicking on an empty portion of the windows taskbar will generally clear that message and allow the drawing to completely load in the editor without the wait.

Can you upload a copy of one of your drawings so it can be independently tested? By the way, any chance that Microstation fonts have been used in any of these drawings? I changed to simplex as a test and regens were back to normal. It can sometimes take quite a while longer it seems the tighter the deadline. I don't recognize either of those fonts in that's what they are as originating from early AutoCAD pre-Acad2k. Could they be shape files?
Since you are having a problem with using them wait times for formatting why haven't you switched to something else? I don't know what you have but I was able to find, download and put a font called Archchisel. Using the Style command I created a new style I named Chisel. I set this style to Current then clicked on the Apply button. Back in my drawing I used the Multiline Text option and as soon as I started typing my two lines of text it immediately appeared on the screen. When did your problem first occur?
Has working with these two fonts always been this frustrating? I may have accidentally mislead you. I should have mentioned it's a 2.
I thought that maybe the formatting text was proportional to the size of the file. I switched all the textstyles to txt. It still takes a long time to regenerate the viewports on a layout. But since it says "please wait By erasing much of the content, thus reducing file size, the regen of the viewports are much faster.
